Thai - Cambodia - Vietnam I'm going to travel from Thailand to Cambodia and than to Vietnam. I'm not sure what the best way is how to travel in Cambodia and how to cross the border (overland) from Thailand to Cambodia en from Cambodia ton Vietnam. And what's the best place to get your Visa? To bad that there isn't a up to date LP from Cambodia, because I always use them and I really like them. From Editorial If you are going to visit only Cambodia and Vietnam from Thailand, I recommend you to fly from BKK to Hanoi and travel down to Saigon and Cambodia later, not the other way because if you visit Cambodia first, you end up at Hanoi and you have to fly from Hanoi to Thailand which route there is not discount fare available, normal fare is OW $200 more. If you fly to Hanoi first, the fare is only OW $100. The border crossings are very easy. We have those information in our web site, please look them up. The best place to apply visa is Bangkok. We have the visa information I our Bangkok page. Only thing you have to make sure when you apply Vietnam visa is entrance/exit points. Hanoi is no problem, but to cross from Vietnam to Cambodia via Moc Bai you exit stamp must be stated as "Moc Bai", if not, you insist at the embassy in Bangkok or you pay a large fee to change it in Hanoi or Saigon. We are not sure so the update in LP, but we have just updated Cambodia info, I hope it will help your trip. |

Beach in Myanmar I'm planning to go to Myanmar, and already appreciated you information a lot. but unfortunately there is nothing at all about the beach section. In the international homepage of PADI (the dive organization), I found that there might be a dive centre on the mergui archipelago. Do you have any information about this part of Burma and may be even about diving? Are tourist allowed to go to mergui and to the southern part of the coast?? From Editorial We have not covered the beach information at this moment because this type of leisure has not developed enough for travelers can enjoy in Myanmar yet. While I was in Myanmar I heard a few stories about beach(I am not sure they are good for diving or not.). Some beaches in S of Myanmar are good but it takes 2 days to reach. You may ask to the Myanmar embassy in your country for the permission. The other story is that you may to the border between Myanmar and Thai on the coast and ask fisherman to take you to an island in Myanamr which is very close from Thai. This is a beautiful and totally unspoiled island.Since most of the beaches in SE Asia have been developed, if there are some left, it could be in Myanmar. Everybody is looking for a paradise. If you found one, please let us know. |

Denpasar to Gili, Indonesia I am arriving into Denpasar Airport at 10.30am on 04 Sep 99, and need to get to the Gilis Islands same day. Your info mentioned a shuttle bus/ferry? Can I book this by fax/email? And where does it leave from in Kuta and what time? From Editorial We don't know if it is possible to book the shuttle by e-1-mail/fax. It is not common to book from oversea. Also you usually have to book a day before. First you have to go to Padangbai from the airport and take a ferry and take another transport(shuttle). I think it is very difficult to travel in a day. Padangbai is very good place to break your journey and you can reach from the airport in a day. Then you can take a ferry in early morning or can arrange your transport easily. |

Rent a House in Bali, Indonesia I want to find a house in Bali for 3 to 6 months, is that possible? How? From Editorial In Bali there are a few free newspapers/magazines in which you can find ads about renting apartments/houses. As long as I remember 2 years ago, you can rent a house from $200/month. I don't know further information. |

Nha Trang, Vietnam I am very irritated reading the article of Tom McClive writing about NhaTrang, Vietnam. I though that this homepage's purpose is to introduce and attract visitors/travelers to NhaTrang, but NO. It seems like this character is describing Thailand beaches in NhaTrang's section. If you still do not understand what I'm saying, please go to NhaTrang, Vietnam's page to check it out yourself to see if I'm right. Please somehow correct it. Thank You. From Editorial Our Site is not for introducing a city or attracting visitors/travelers. We are just providing travelers the travel information. We sometime have to write negative comment. You obviously did not like Tom' s comment. This is his comment. He has right to express his opinion. But it does not mean you cannot express your own opinion. Please write to us your opinion, we are very happy to put it on our page. |

Buying air tickets in and around Kaosan
area, Thailand Hello everyone, I am writing to ask you to warn travellers buying airtickets in and around Khao San Rd, Babgkok. Some travel Agents are asking for half or all the fare before producing a ticket. You can pay a deposit of 1,000 Baht for any airfare (never more than one third) and ask them to get the ticket withing 24 hours. If they won't do this - walk out. Travellers should be wary of agents along Soi Bambuttri Chakrapong (on the Eastern side of the Wat leading down to Guest houses Merry V, My, New Siam Mango etc ) The name of the agent who has caused me and others to waste two weeks here (and then only peoduced a ticket after we went to the tourist police) is Thai House Inter Service. 61 Soi Rambuttri (off) Chakrapong Rd. The agents get money off you and invest it or use it in some way while delaying you for up to two weeks. They tell you that something went wrong with the flight or that the flight was cancelled or some other such bullshit. A favoutite excuse was they tell you that you were only on the waiting list and sorry, the flight is full. Don't believe any of this.PLEASE BE CAREFULL Peter Mitchell Home address: 2/18 Shores Cl Salamander Bay. NSW 2317 Australia |
