Boy it can sure feel good getting
into a familiar city like Bangkok. I had reservations at the
Atlanta Hotel, so the delayed flight from Bali which arrived
at 3:00 am was not a problem. Thailand seems so calm compared
to Indonesia.
We Have nothing but wonderful
things to say about New Zealand. The people are the best
and more scenery per acre than any place in the world. The place
is really set up for backpackers, with "backpacker "
accommodations every. All transportation options are available,
the train from Picton to Christchurch down the coast of the south
island is particularly nice...spotting seals from the train.
Many people buy used cars and drive around the two relatively
small islands. It was my first experience with driving on the
left and one must very careful. What you really need is time...I
would say a month minimum on each island would be a reasonable
amount of time. We had one month and spent three weeks on the
south island. The kiwi people are great and I made the greatest
friends and was able to stay in homes more than usual. There
is also plenty of camping in great places, some for free. Some
highlights worth considering are Milford and Doubtful Sound,
Tongarario National Park, Wanaka area north of Queensland, Nelson
and the Marlborough Sound. Wellington is one of the most beautiful
cities as I have been to in when viewed from above, nestled into
the harbor. Its ashamed its on a huge fault line. There is really
no place that is not scenic! I can't wait to go back. |
