The High Tatras mountain range,
located in NE Slovakia, on the border with Poland, are the smallest
alpine mountain range in Europe. The mountain area has been designated
as a National Park. The High Tatras offer some of the best opportunities
for hiking, alpine & cross country skiing in Eastern Europe
and, though it can get very crowded at peak times, the area is
much less touristy than Zakopane, the main resort on the Polish
side of the Tatras.
Poprad
is an ugly industrial,
city is the transport center for the area with connections all
over Slovakia and international connections to Poland, Czech
Republic and Hungary.
At this moment we only have limited information on Poprad and
the central resort area between Stary Smokovec & Horny Smokovec. |
