 Torun,
the birthplace of the great astronomer Kopernicus, is a beautiful
medieval city located on the bank of the River Vistula, 3-4 hours
from Warsaw. Torun's beauty and historic importance have deservedly
been recognised by UNESCO - in December 1997 it was added to
the World Heritage List.
Within the old town there are many fine examples of gothic architecture
and several interesting historic sights. 1 or 2 days is enough
to see everything in this pleasant relaxing city.
