Castle District in Buda on the West side of the Danube
On UNESCO's register of World Heritage Sights The Castle district contains most of Budapest's historical sights. Wandering around the, attractive, historic area is one of Budapest's highlights. Go early in the morning to see it at its best, during the day the area is always crowded with tourists. The views across the river to Parliament building are superb especially in the evenings.

S1 Buda Castle District: I,Szent Gyorgy ter. 2 The World Heritage Site.
Foundations date back to the 13th C but the castle has been destroyed and rebuilt several times. Houses several museums: Great views of Pest, across the river.
Walk over the Szechenyi Lanchid Bridge and take a funicular or take a bus(Castle) from Moszkva ter.or take #16 from Deak Ter

Disney like Rampart with tower, built in the 19th C. Great views of the river.
S1d Matyas Templom Matthias Church: Neo-Gothic style, the present Church is largely a reconstruction dating from the 19th C. Distinctive for its colorful, tile roof. Organ concerts held here in Summer. Houses a museum of religious art.
S1e Statue of St Stephen: S side of Matyas Church, St Stephen became king in 1000 AD.

S2 Gellert Hill: Panoramic views of the town of Budapest from the top. You can climb us the hill via scenic paths. Some view points along the way offer better views than the top. One path starts from in front of the Gellert Bath entrance.

Vajdahunyad Castle: New building built in 20th C despite the design which incorporates Romanesque through to Gothic. The architect, Ignac Alpar, intended to create a harmony through blending all styles. During summer , there are laser light shows and many concerts.Also houses the Museum of Agriculture.
Margget Island: 2km long island in the Danube, in the N of Budapest. Very big park which has many sports and leisure facilites, ruins, theaters, baths. Rental bicycles are available.
