This year the organizers expect 250,000 people
to this great Central European Music Fiesta on the shipyard island
of Budapest. This is the 7th Festival. What things are waiting
for you? You can set up your tent on one of the 10,000 sites available. 53 program sites and stages are waiting for the visitors, 4283 performers intend to amuse the young generation. Only a few names of the bands who show up: Suede, Paradise Lost, Guano Aps, Warpigs, Faithless, The Brand New Heavies, Madness, Liquido, Klezmatics, Rachid Taha, Baaba Maal, Apocalyptica, Tribal Drift, Ignite, Asian Dub Foundation, Jovanotti and the Kool&The Gang. Besides the concerts the Island offers other cultural performances, art programs and exhibitions, and lectures. |

The Hungarian Railways (MAV) offers a 50%
discount for trips to/from the Sziget from within Hungary. Keep
your train ticket and have it stamped on the Sziget. If you are already in Budapest: You should take the HEV trains (green commuter trains) from Batthyany ter/square on the red metro line (Line No. 2.) to the Filatorigat stop where the entrance to the Sziget is. If you wanna take a Taxi, Fotaxi, the partner company of the Sziget Festival is available with special tariffs for Islanders. Phone: 222-2222 (You can find a taxi stop at the Sziget if you are leaving.) The Duna Ships depart every hour from 4pm to midnight from Jaszai Mari ter (Margit Bridge, Pest side) taking those with Pepsi Sziget tickets (you can purchase your ticket for the Festival at the pier) straight to the Festival for 200 Ft. You can ride your bike, and find a safe bike storage place on the Sziget. Drivers can park their cars free on the parking lot near the Sziget. |
